ESTABLISH A MASJID AND COMMUNITY CENTRE IN THE LONDON BRIDGE AREA
THE PROPHET ď·ş SAID:
Whoever builds a Mosque for Allah, Allah will build for him a similar house in JANNAH
[Sahih Muslim 533]
We now have a Prayer facility (Starting with Jummah/Friday Prayers) (Short Term)
Establish a Masjid (Long term)
Establish a Community Centre (including educational and Community facilities) (Long term)
London Bridge Masjid is currently administrated by Justice For A Better World.
Who We Are
London Bridge Masjid Group
A group of local Muslims looking to establish prayer facilities for Friday prayers for those working and living in and around London Bridge, Borough and Bankside, the City of London, Southbank, the Northbank and the surrounding areas.
In the long term we would like to develop a masjid and community centre for people of all backgrounds.
Why
Over the last few years there have been many requests by local Muslims living and working in and around the local areas, to establish a prayer facility.
Those working in the areas have cited the difficulty to attend Friday prayers due to the absence of a local masjid. They explained that their lunch breaks were too short to travel to, pray and travel back from the masjid’s in Harper Road or in Holborn.
Some Multi-Faith Rooms are available at various cultural buildings, medical facilities and educational institutions however these are either private or too small and only accommodate 5-10 people.
We are currently looking for a place to hire between Blackfriars Bridge and London Bridge.
What do we offer?
Afternoon Teas
On Fridays and other ad-hoc days, LBIC organises afternoon tea sessions to bring together individuals from all faith (as well as non-faith backgrounds).
Held at our space, these gatherings are designed to promote social cohesion and build strong community ties.
Our afternoon teas have already left a wonderful lasting legacy, inspiring spin-off initiatives like weekly community football sessions (organised independently of LBIC).
Social/Games Activities
We proudly partner with various local organisations to host engaging social activities for residents.
From Chess to a variety of other popular board games, these sessions provide dozens of local people with a brilliant opportunity to socialise, unwind and build lasting friendships—offering a vital community space that many otherwise would not have access to.
Interfaith Gatherings
LBIC is deeply committed to fostering unity, hosting a variety of activities that bring together people of all faiths and none.
Our initiative includes regular interfaith gatherings at our centre, as well as annual interfaith Iftars during Ramadan held in proud partnership with Southwark Cathedral.
These landmark events serve to mark the anniversary of the London Bridge attack, standing together in solidarity and peace.
Literature, Reading and Educational Talks
A hub for learning and culture, LBIC hosts a range of literature and reading-based activities for the local community.
This includes our engaging Book Club and poetry reading sessions.
Alongside educational talks, we are also uniquely collaborating with local residents and theatres in the SE1 area to write and produce an original community play.
Inspiring Volunteering
Over the last 18 months, LBIC has successfully inspired, trained and organised dozens of local residents to give back to their neighbourhood through impactful volunteering projects.
Our centre acts as a vital, energetic hub for local volunteers looking to make a tangible difference.
By empowering individuals to serve, we build a more resilient, connected and supportive community for everyone.
Prayers
At our current space, LBIC hosts daily Duhr (midday) and Asr (afternoon) prayers for dozens of brothers in the community as well as the weekly Jummu’ah (friday) prayer for over 250 local people.
Our vision is to extend these services to include Fajr (sunrise), Maghrib (sunset), and Isha (late evening) prayers.
We intend to introduce these full daily prayer services once we secure a more dedicated space and the necessary personnel to run it.
Public Events
In collaboration with local stakeholders, LBIC organises major public events that celebrate culture and community.
Notable highlights include our vibrant Eid by the River festival (celebrating Eid Al-Adha) in partnership with London Bridge City, and The Great Get Together SE1 alongside the Jo Cox Foundation.
We use our space to brainstorm, plan, and deliver these interactive, inclusive workshops and large-scale celebrations.

“The example of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah is like a seed [of grain] which grows seven spikes; in each spike is a hundred grains. And Allah multiplies [His reward] for whom He wills. And Allah is all-Encompassing and Knowing.”
